Like everyone, senior living residents want to experience meals that inspire and satisfy. Unlike most, though, they’ll visit the same venues frequently. This fosters a unique relationship between diners and staff.
Senior living residents quickly get to know the culinary staff, give feedback about what they’re being served, and can request items. The Estates at Carpenters understands this well and encourages open communication.
“The residents have most of the say because it’s their food,” says Dining Director Dean Riley. “That’s just how I want it. I make my daily rounds in the dining room to connect with residents. They tell me what they like and what they don’t like. It’s great, because my job is to continually elevate their quality of life through cuisine.”
At The Estates, the culinary team prioritizes residents’ needs and preferences while always working to enhance the dining experience. Keep reading for more information about the dining experience at The Estates at Carpenters.
Resident-Focused Dining
The Estates at Carpenters sources local produce and prepares the majority of recipes from scratch. They do not use a typical cycle menu. Menus are different every day, giving residents new and varied options to choose from. Whether you order prime rib or grilled salmon from the Dining Room or pick up a burger or a salad from the bistro, lunch and dinner fare is made to order just for you.
“We recently rolled out a program where residents can submit a recipe and the Executive Chef will prepare it. The whole community tries it,” says Riley, “It’s a fun way to get residents involved and incorporate some of their personal favorites.”
Our flexible meal plans give residents the freedom to:
- Delight in the dining room’s fun and sociable environment
- Relax in the laid-back environment of the bistro
- Order room service to enjoy a meal in your private residence
- Reserve the private dining room for your celebrations or family gatherings
Along with responding to culinary preferences, this team of experts is attuned to the dietary needs of residents. They collaborate to provide meals that meet nutritional standards and individual needs.
At every venue, culinary staff members help residents customize orders to meet individual allergies, sensitivities and diets. In assisted living and skilled nursing, a certified dietary manager approves menus based on a nutritional assessment.
Exciting Changes to Come
The upcoming community expansion at The Estates at Carpenters includes exciting updates and additions to the senior living community’s dining venues.
The dining room that exists now will be divided into action stations. There will be a hibachi grill, a hearth pizza oven, and a soup and salad station.
The Bistro will be significantly expanded. It will become a sports grill with upscale pub cuisine. The private dining room will still be available for special events.
